Electric Monkey enrols in Chelsea High

Hot on the heels of her Romantic Novelist Association Awards shortlisting, Electric Monkey an imprint of Farshore has snapped up the rights for commercial women’s fiction bestseller, Jenny Oliver’s debut YA, Chelsea High.

A modern Cinderella story lies at the heart of Oliver’s irresistible debut. Growing up in a houseboat and spending her days at the family’s vintage market stall, Norah Whittaker’s upbringing has been far from glamorous. However, when her dad’s latest get-rich-quick plan leads to his arrest, Norah’s world is turned upside down and her grandparents enrol her at the exclusive Chelsea High. Norah quickly learns that polo lessons, ski trips and parties photographed by Tatler come at a price – namely the unwelcome attention of Instagram sensation, and class queen bee, Coco Summers.

Combining the sparky dialogue and heart of Gilmore Girls with the gloriously indulgent extravagance of Made in Chelsea, Oliver has penned THE Summer Read of 2020 and a long-awaited UK answer to Gossip Girl.

Lindsey Heaven, Farshore Fiction Editorial Director, says “Jenny’s YA debut is such an utter delight of a read. Feel-good, escapist romance and friendships that readers and the YA market are crying out for.”

Jenny Oliver says “I’m so thrilled to be working with Electric Monkey on Chelsea High. They completely got everything about it from the very beginning and are so passionate about the story and the characters. Their vision is spot on and I feel like I have the best team behind the book for this really exciting journey into the YA market.”

Lindsey Heaven signed the two book deal for World Rights in all languages with Rebecca Ritchie at AM Heath. The second title in the series will follow in 2021.
